Josie’s access to sound is helping her live a life without limits!
An AG Bell Cradle-to-Career Moment

Josie Burow’s hearing loss was first noted during her newborn hearing screening and she was officially diagnosed at 7 weeks old. She received a loaner pair of hearing aids through the local children’s hospital when she was 10 weeks old.
Today, Josie wears pink hearing aids with pink sparkle molds during all waking hours. She can say words with meaning and enjoys making several different animal sounds. She regularly recognizes sounds within her home, such as the beeping of the microwave.
Josie continues to receive regular evaluations by her speech-language pathologist and has been meeting all of her communication milestones. Her most recent hearing test shows that her hearing aids provide her with access to sound to hear things she would otherwise miss.
“We love to see the way she has learned to interact with her older siblings during play, mealtimes, and other parts of our daily routines,” her parents told AG Bell. “We can’t wait to see what the future holds for our sweet little girl!”

Un momento «de la cuna a la profesión» de AG Bell
La pérdida auditiva de Josie Burow se detectó por primera vez durante el cribado auditivo neonatal y se le diagnosticó oficialmente a las 7 semanas de vida. El hospital infantil local le prestó un par de audífonos cuando tenía 10 semanas.
Actualmente, Josie lleva unos audífonos rosas con moldes rosas brillantes durante todo el tiempo en que permanece despierta. Sabe decir palabras con sentido y le gusta imitar diferentes sonidos de animales. Suele reconocer los sonidos de su hogar, como el pitido del microondas.
Josie sigue recibiendo evaluaciones periódicas de su logopeda y ha ido logrando todos sus hitos de comunicación. En su prueba auditiva más reciente se demostró que los audífonos le permiten oír sonidos y voces que de otro modo se perdería.
«Nos encanta ver cómo ha aprendido a interactuar con sus hermanos mayores durante el juego, las comidas y otras partes de nuestras rutinas diarias», explican sus padres a AG Bell. «¡Estamos impacientes por ver qué le depara el futuro a nuestra preciosa hija!»
