Nick’s love of music and sports is how he lives a life without limits!
An AG Bell Cradle-to-Career Moment

Nick Busillo was born profoundly deaf and has used bilateral cochlear implants since the age of 1.
Nick attends a mainstream private school with minimal accommodations. He thrives both socially and academically.
Nick plays soccer, basketball and swims. He also loves music and has a lovely singing voice. “It’s hard to believe that a few years ago we worried he might never talk—now we have trouble getting him to stop,” Nick’s mother, Carol Katarsky, told AG Bell.
In 2022, Nick participated in his first play. He played an orphan and was in the chorus for Annie, singing “It’s the Hard Knock Life.” Nick enjoyed the experience so much that he told his parents: “Next time, I want a part that has a lot of lines!”

Un momento «de la cuna a la profesión» de AG Bell
Nick Busillo nació con sordera profunda y utiliza implantes cocleares bilaterales desde que tenía un año.
Nick es alumno de una escuela privada del sistema educativo ordinario con unas adaptaciones mínimas. Se desenvuelve a la perfección tanto social como académicamente.
Nick juega al fútbol y al baloncesto, y practica la natación. También le encanta la música y tiene una bonita voz para cantar. «Cuesta creer que hace unos años nos preocupara que nunca llegase a hablar; ahora tenemos problemas para conseguir que se calle», explica a AG Bell Carol Katarsky, la madre de Nick.
En 2022 Nick participó en su primera obra de teatro. Interpretó a un huérfano y formó parte del coro de Annie, cantando «It’s the Hard Knock Life». Nick disfrutó tanto de la experiencia que les dijo a sus padres: «¡La próxima vez, quiero un papel que tenga muchas líneas!»
