AG Bell Student Earns Marshall Scholarship

Written By: Lisa Chutjian

AG Bell congratulates Caroline Yuk, who has been mentored by Dr. Tilak Ratnanather who leads AG Bell’s STEMM-HEAR initiative, on her award of the Marshall Scholarship. Caroline is a senior at the University of Alabama who will study neuroscience at the University of Oxford and audiology science at University College London next year.

The Marshall Scholarship is a British program in which high-achieving American students receive financing to pursue graduate studies in the United Kingdom. Up to 50 scholarships are awarded each year.

“Earning the Marshall Scholarship means the absolute world to me,” said Caroline in a recent university article. “It’s the greatest validation that I’m living in such a way that gives back to all who have helped me along the way, including my parents, siblings, friends and mentors.”

Among Caroline’s mentors is Dr. Marcia Hay-McCutcheon who leads AG Bell’s chapter in Alabama and has long been a champion for hearing health in rural communities.

Caroline is focused on finding solutions through auditory neuroscience to increase hearing access for underserved populations. We look forward to following Caroline’s work and wish her well in her studies.
